How to Improve Copy Quality?

- Jul 02, 2018 -

1. Check if the problem appears on other types of print jobs

First, make sure there is a problem with all print jobs or just copying.

Print a setup report on the printer's front panel, or print a document from your PC.

If the same defects are visible on all printed pages, follow the print quality troubleshooting guide instead of following the article specifically for copying.

2. Check to make sure the scanner is unlocked

Flatbed scanners typically have a travel lock switch that protects the scan head during transport. If so, you must unlock it before using it.

Check your user guide to see if this switch is on your MFP model number.

3. Clean the ADF and flat glass

Copy defects are usually caused by stains on the flatbed or ADF glass.

Thoroughly clean the two glass areas with a clean dry microfiber cloth.

If you cannot remove the stain when cleaning with a dry cloth, use a small amount of glass cleaner. Do not use strong solvents such as ketone bodies.

4. Adjust the sharpness setting

If the copy is blurry or jagged, adjust the sharpness setting.

Instructions can be found in the user guide for your MFP model.

5. Adjust density/contrast settings

If the copy color is too light or too dark, adjust the density or contrast setting

Instructions can be found in the user guide for your MFP model.
